
Colin Mackey
Colin joined Rio Tinto in 2003 following time working for Goldfields, BHP, and Theiss. He has held a number of positions during his career, spanning three continents in open cut, underground, operations, projects, contracting and commercial. Roles have traversed the full life cycle of mines; concept through feasibility studies, construction, operation and closure. Colin has spent more than 10 years working in Rio Tinto’s coal business in Queensland and New South Wales before moving into procurement in 2017 where he was Business Partner for Australia, New Zealand for Global Procurement. In 2021 Colin joined Rio Tinto Minerals as Manageing Director Jadar and European Operations based in Belgrade.Colin led the economic development and wealth creation pillar of Rio Tinto’s Australian Indigenous strategy, implemeneting procedures and policies to increase Rio Tinto’s spending with Indigenous suppliers and service providers. Colin and his wife Jo have two adult daughters who are somewhat tolerant of his ultra-running problem. Colin is a mining engineer, and has a number of statutory qualifications and a member of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining
