Niranjala is a battery materials scientist with almost 6 years of experience in material science. For 3 years, she worked as a research scientist at the Sri Lanka Institute of Nanotechnology (SLINTEC). Her major research work covered the development of nanomaterials and their potential applications. Niranjala completed her BSc degree in Chemistry at the University of Ruhuna and received the best performance gold medal award. Niranjala studied her PhD in anode materials for Li-ion batteries at Bournemouth University, UK. She is the author and co-author of five scientific papers in peer-reviewed international journals and two patents.
